The Gyeonggi Unification Forum, which is co-hosted by Ajou University and the Unification Education Center for Southern Gyeonggi Province, was held on November 9th at the University's Paldal Hall. During the forum, Deputy Director Bong Hyeon Cho of the IBK Economic Research Institute gave a lecture entitled "Spreading Markets in North Korea and Our Preparation for Unification."

Deputy Director Cho said, "There can be changes in North Korea and its markets, which may lead to unexpected unification," adding, "Therefore, unification is not optional but essential."

The Gyeonggi Unification Forum features bi-monthly lectures by renowned people and is being hosted by Ajou since it was designated as the Unification Education Center for Southern Gyeonggi Province. There are a total of 17 Unification Education Centers across the country, which are selected by the Institute for Unification Education under the Ministry of Unification. They are responsible for unification-related education as the educational hubs of their respective communities.

Earlier, on November 7th, the "Unification Lecture for the Public – Daily Life in the North" was held in Dasan Hall Auditorium at the University. It was an opportunity for the participants to better understand what is happening in the daily lives of North Koreans. The event was open to foreign students and citizens as well as the University students through podcast.
