Ajou Unification Institute holds the Ajou Unification Camp for university students

[16.08.29]


Ajou Unification Institute held the Ajou Unification Camp for two nights and three days from August 17th to the 19th. The event is a part of the Unification Education Leading Universities Project.


The Camp was held at the Ajou University campus, with the University students and students who defected from North Korea participating. The forty-four participants had an opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and imagine what Korea will be like after unification.


The Camp offered various interesting activities, including the Recreation Festival in which the participants experienced recreational cultures of North and South Korea; the Unification Mosaic in which the participants portrayed the unified Korea through collaboration; the Lecture on Branding for the Unified Korea that offered insights into unification from marketing perspectives; and the Non-violence Conversation in which the participants learned how to talk in a peaceful manner.


In addition, the participants enhanced their imagination of unification through a team activity of starting their own businesses in North Korea after unification. It was a chance for the students from Ajou and North Korea to better understand each other while working together on presentations.


Ajou University is acting as the hub of unification education in Southern Gyeonggi Province after it was designated as the 2016 Regional Unification Education Center by the Ministry of Unification. Last December, the University launched the Unification Institute and is leading to develop unification education models after being selected in March as the Unification Education Leading University. Ajou University is the only institution to be designated by the Ministry of Unification as the Unification Education Leading University and the Regional Unification Education Center.
