Ajou's student society SeA wins the Grand Prize at the Classics Discussion Contest for University Students

SeA, a student discussion society from Ajou University's Department of History, received the Grand Prize at the 3rd Classics Discussion Contest for University Students hosted by the Korea National Institute for General Education (KNIGE) under the Korean Council for University Education.


The contest, which was held on August 23rd at Yonsei University, aims to encourage students to enhance their understanding of humans and the world through reading and discussing classics and to promote a culture where lecturers and students discuss classics together. Students who are attending four-year universities were qualified for the contest, and the participants presented on two books selected from among the classics designated by KNIGE.


The contest consisted of a preliminary and final round, with nine teams making it to the final based on a review of their discussion reports and in-depth interviews. In the final round, each team made a presentation and answered questions from judges and the audience.


SeA won the first place award and 3 million won in prize money. The discussion that earned the prize for Jae Heon Cha (Department of History, entrance class of 2014), Eun Bi Kim (Department of Political Science and Diplomacy, entrance class of 2014), Hyeon Woo Shin (Department of History, entrance class of 2016), and Jun Mo Yang (Department of History, entrance class of 2014) was entitled "Mentoring from Mencius and Aristotle – Explore the Path for Korean Society." Professor Jong Sik Kim (Department of History) advised the students regarding the event.
