A delegation led by the French President of Conférence des Présidents d’Université visits Ajou
[16.05.09]

Christine Clérici, President of Conférence des Présidents d’Université (CPU) and President of Paris Diderot University, and other delegates visited Ajou University on the afternoon of May 9th.

President Christine Clérici was joined by Director Marc Melka of the Department of Asian and African Affairs, Ministry of National Education, Higher Education, Science and Technology Research, Phillippe Codognet from the Centre Nationale de Recherche Scientifique, and Attaché de Coopération scientifique et universitaire Yann Moreau and Chargée de mission universitaire Na Yon Kim from the French Embassy to the Republic of Korea.

The visit aims to promote exchanges in the field of science and between universities of the two countries, which is being discussed extensively after French President François Hollande made a state visit to South Korea last year. Ajou University President Dong Yeon Kim greeted President Christine Clérici's delegation in his office and promised to play his role in bilateral cooperation focused on information and communication technology and medical sciences between Ajou and its French counterparts. The delegation then toured the College of Information Technology and the School of Medicine and received briefings about and discussed practical cooperation with them.

Since the early days of its founding, Ajou has developed exchanges with 30 French universities, including Université de Nantes, by signing Memoranda of Understanding, etc. The University is operating the most active programs with its French counterparts among Korean universities. As of the 2016 Spring Semester, 29 French students are studying at Ajou, while 12 exchange students have been dispatched to France.
