The first entrance ceremony for the ‘NEXT Gyeonggi Experts Training Program,' which was launched by Ajou University's Graduate School of Public Affairs and the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, was held on March 2nd. Twenty officials from the Gyeonggi Provincial Government are participating in the Program.

The ceremony, which was held in Yulgok Hall's Video Conference Room, was attended by the twenty officials, First Vice Governor for Administration Jae Yul Lee, and other officials from the Gyeonggi Provincial Government. President Dong Yeon Kim, Dean Heung Sik Kim of the Graduate School of Public Affairs, and other officials joined the event from the University.

The ‘NEXT Gyeonggi Experts Training Program' opened under a contract concluded between Ajou's Graduate School of Public Affairs and the Gyeonggi Provincial Government. The Contract-based Course is a program in which employees can obtain their regular degrees under a contract between their industrial organizations and educational institutions, and it aims to provide retraining to the employees and improve their work-related capabilities.

The ‘NEXT Gyeonggi Experts Training Program' has the local governance major (master's degree course in public administration) and the local economy major (master's degree course in economics), and ten public officials attend each course, respectively. It is a two-year program spanning four semesters and lasts until February 2018.

In his congratulatory remarks, President Dong Yeon Kim said, "I hope that you ask yourselves questions and try to break conventional ways of thinking during this educational opportunity," adding, "Ajou University will do its best to provide you with a rewarding education."

First Vice Governor Lee from the Gyeonggi Provincial Government said, "I have high expectations of this program because it is the first work-related degree course for our talents from Gyeonggi Province," adding, "I hope that this program will be successful and other public officials at city and county levels will benefit from similar opportunities."
