On the morning of December 9th, the second graduation ceremony was held for the Key Leaders Education Program for Suwon City officials in Ajou University's Jonghap Hall. The Suwon Municipal Government commissioned the University's Graduate School of Public Affairs to operate the Program.

The graduation ceremony was attended by the 30 Suwon City officials who participated in the Program and Suwon City Mayor Tae Young Yeom. Also in attendance were President Dong Yeon Kim, Dean Heung Sik Kim of the Graduate School of Public Affairs, and other officials from the University.

It began with the presentation of the Certificates of Completion and an address by Dean Kim, followed by congratulatory messages by President Kim and Mayor Yeom. Prior to the ceremony, the graduating officials displayed their policy tasks.

The awards presented at the ceremony included the Ajou University President Award, the Suwon City Mayor Award, the Dean of the Graduate School Award, and the Achievement Award.

The winners of the awards are as follows:

* The Ajou University President Award: Seong Ja Park
* The Suwon City Mayor Award: Seong Im Chang
* The Dean of the Graduate School Award: Jung Hyeon Kim, Geun Suk Song, and Myeong Hee Hwang
* The Achievement Award: Gil Hun Lee, Dong Gyu Chang, and Eun Hee Cho

In his congratulatory message, President Kim said, “I worked as a government official for 30 years before joining Ajou University. During the first 15 years, I considered ‘how’ I should work, and for the next 15 years, the issue was ‘why’ I was working,” adding, “I felt very rewarded and had a sense of achievement while trying to find work that I wanted to do to contribute to social change, instead of just doing what I was asked to.”

He went on to say, “I hope that you will be able to make your dreams come true while working as government officials,” adding, “I deeply congratulate you on your graduation.”

Mayor Yeom encouraged each and every one of the officials. At a luncheon with the graduates that followed the ceremony, he said, “I ask that you will bring Game-changing Revolution to Suwon City, just like the one that is occurring at Ajou University.”

Thirty officials from the Suwon Municipal Government have attended the Key Leaders Education Program, which lasted for 10 months from February. This year marks the second year of the education program. The Program includes 19 subjects including “The Changing Administrative Environment and Local Government Administration for the Future,” “Proper Views of Public Positions,” “Laws and Regulations Relevant to Municipal Officials,” and “Education on Informatization.”
