NEW [16.12.23] Ajou's Professor Young Jin Kim wins the 2016 Excellent Paper Award from the National Research Foundation of K

Ajou University Professor Young Jin Kim (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, pictured above) won the 2016 Excellent Paper Award from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF).


The award-winning paper is entitled "Perceptual Color Difference-Based Image Quality Assessment Method and Evaluation System According to the Types of Distortion." Professor Kim’s paper was selected in the ICT and Convergence Research category under the Basic Research Department.


Professor Kim has been conducting research on evaluating images on displays as well as image treatment and its acceleration for optimal viewer satisfaction from the perspective of a low electricity system. His award-winning research findings were made possibly through NRF support for Intermediate Key Projects.


NRF presents the annual Awards to the outstanding papers from among those that received its support and were published in the academic journal issued by the Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers (KIISE). The award ceremony was held on December 22nd during the 43rd KIISE General Assembly and Winter Conference.


Established in 1973, KIISE is South Korea's largest academic society in computing and has about 35,000 researchers as its members.
