The FAST Lab, a part of Graduate School of Computer Engineering at Ajou University was founded by Prof. Youngjae Kim in fall 2015. We investigate a wide spectrum of design and implementation challenges for IoT, Cloud, Big Data and Mobile Platforms with an emphasis on performance optimization of system software and middleware for applications. We also research on next generation non-volatile memory and storage system technologies, distributed file systems, and integrated technologies of memory and storage in both operating systems and distributed computing systems. Recently FAST lab has been awarded the research grant (period: 2015-2019) for developing a High-Performance Big Data platform by Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning (MSIP) in collaboration with leading organizations of UNIST and KISTI. Mobile PLANETs Lab conduct research on all mobile-related issues such as mobile platform, network, security, and service, inheriting former Wireless Networks Lab, since 2010 at Ajou University, Korea. We focus on the field of an effective development method for large-scale software systems such as ubiquitous systems, intelligent transportation systems, military systems, etc. Research interests include new application models, frameworks, and development methods for large-scale software systems. For research, we have proposed a community computing model for effectively developing dynamic ubiquitous applications based on the metaphor of community. Currently, we are trying to develop a role-based application model and its implementation framework which will be applied to various areas including ubiquitous applications, social network services, military applications, etc. We are also interested in the area of information transportation systems, in which we study a way of improving safety using advanced technologies such as ubiquitous networks, agent systems, etc. |

Since 1997, The Internet Security Laboratory has conducted research about network security and development of access control models under Professor Hong-jin Yeh at Ajou University. We have enhanced study of access control modeling and information system development, which will be proper in ubiquitous environments from now on, together with detection and prevention of invasion through networks. Now we are researching security among sensor networks. We have produced many papers from research issues. We are performing module development and application possible security methods. The main issue of this laboratory is general understanding about sensor networks and each level of communication and deducing security problems in communication and service; after all, we are trying to find solutions and techniques to deal with these problems. |
