연구분야

    기체 - 고체의 계면에서 일어나는 화학반응 중 특히 관심있는 분야는 광촉매, 연료전지의 전극, Haber - Bosch 촉매, Fischer  -  Tropsch 촉매, NOx 촉매 등 다양한 응용 분야에서 빠지지 않는 고체 촉매의 표면에서 일어나는 화학반응이다.  궁극적으로는 우수한 특성을 갖는 고체 촉매를 개발하는 것이고, 이를 위해 촉매를 구성하는 고체 물질의 표면에서의 특징적인 전자 구조 또는 원자 구조에는 어떤 것이 있는가, 고체 내부 또는 표면에 존재하는 결함은 촉매 반응에 어떤 영향을 주는가, 매우 선택적인 반응성을 갖는 촉매를 얻기 위해 새로운 모양과 크기의 나노결정을 만들고, 모양이나 크기가 반응성에 어떤 영향을 주는가 등의 기초과학적 질문에 대한 답을 얻기 위한 연구를 수행하고 있다.
