Ajou's Professor Ju Min Kim wins the Beom Seok Paper Award from the Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers

[16.10.24]

Ajou University Professor Ju Min Kim (Department of Chemical Engineering, Graduate School's Department of Energy System Research) won the Beom Seok Paper Award from the Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers (KIChE). The Beom Seok Paper Award is presented to researchers aged 45 or younger who release excellent papers in the academic journals published by KIChE.

In KIChE's English-language academic journal, Professor Kim released his paper entitled "Kinematic analyses of a cross-slot microchannel applicable to cell deformability measurement under inertial or viscoelastic flow."

Professor Kim said, "The paper found that the degree of flow consistency can considerably vary depending on flow conditions within a cross-slot microchannel to which inertial or viscoelastic flow is applied," adding, "I expect that the findings can be used as a basic study in developing micro-fluidic devices for cell deformability analysis."

The award ceremony was held on October 19th during the KIChE general meeting. Established in 1962, KIChE has about 5,000 relevant researchers.

Professor Kim, who began to teach at Ajou University in 2008, is carrying out research on identifying physical characteristics of high molecules and the flow of high molecular solution and developing micro-fluidic technologies by utilizing the findings.
