Ajou University Professor Gwy Am Shin (Department of Environmental and Safety Engineering, pictured above) was newly chosen for the 2017 Science and Technology Support Project for Emerging Countries carried out by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (Minister: Yang Hee Choi) and the National Research Foundation of Korea (President: Moo Je Cho).

The Project aims to strengthen the capabilities of emerging countries and induce their sustainable development by providing science and technology resources from Korea.

Professor Shin seeks to promote environment technologies related to water and agriculture in Ethiopia by establishing 'Science and Technology Bases' within the country. The total period of the Project is four years, and up to two billion won, 500 million won per year, will be provided to his team based on annual evaluations.

Professor Shin said, "I expect that my assignment will contribute to improving the lives of local people and the capabilities of the region."
