KBS News introduces Ajou's Paran Semester

[16.09.07]


On September 6th, KBS introduced the Paran Semester Program being conducted by Ajou University on Evening News 7.


The news piece entitled "Take Up Challenges for Aptitude: Free Activity Semesters at Universities" explained how South Korean universities are giving students credits for doing what they want to do.


The news featured Ajou's Chang Mo Kwon (Department of Civil System Engineering), who participated in Paran Semester, and Seung Yeon Suh from Ehwa Womans University (Department of Sculpture), who participated in the free activity semester. Ajou's President Dong Yeon Kim said in an interview, "Our society demands that students find the right answers. Instead, Paran Semester is giving students opportunities to explore their own answers."


Also introduced during the news segment were the team led by Byeong Jun Yoon (Department of Digital Media) that chose to create independent games and another team led by Dong Jin Lee (Department of Sociology) that is working on a documentary on the elderly.


On September 2nd, Channel A also aired a similar news piece that covered Ajou's Paran Semester and Ehwa's free activity semester.
