Ajou new international students enrolled in fall semester 2008 are required to read the below message and to follow the instructions. 


1. Submitting the copy of the alien registration card

As informed in the orientation, every international student should apply for Alien Registration Card in September. If you have not registered yet, please go to the Suwon Immigration Office and apply for the alien registration card as soon as possible.

As OIA should report your enrollment at Ajou University with the alien registration to the Immigration Office, we need to receive the copy of your alien registration card.

Please submit the copy of alien registration card to the related office as below until October 10^th(Friday). 

     -  Exchange students         to OIA 
     -  Graduate School students   to OIA or to the department office 
     -  GSIS students              to GSIS Office



2. Purchasing the Health Insurance

As you may know, every student should buy the health insurance for your stay at Ajou University.  If you didn’t buy the insurance yet, please refer the information about the insurance at the Notice board of Ajou website(www.ajou.ac..kr/english) and please visit OIA in order to purchase the insurance.

Please be noticed that Ajou University will not have any responsibilities for the problems caused as you don’t have the insurance.

OIA will receive the application for the Health Insurance by October 10^th(Friday).  Please fill out the application form and submit it to OIA.

< Procedure to buy the insurance >

1.      Read the information about the insurance & download the application form   

 (www.ajou.ac.kr/english  -> Notice board  ->  3. Orientation Materials for International Students (Fall 2008))

2.      Fill out the application form

3.      Submit the form to OIA

4.      Transfer the amount of the insurance fee  (OIA will e-mail you about the detailed amount and the account number of the insurance company)

5.      OIA will notice you when we receive the insurance card.

3.  Medical Check-up (X-ray) 

To stay in the dormitory, every resident should submit the result of the health check-up. If you don’t have the health check-up result, you can do the check-up at Ajou hospital.

4. Please don’t do the private tutoring 

Recently, we were told that some of students try to find out the private tutoring job. As we informed, the private tutoring is prohibited according to the Korean Immigration Law and you can pay the penalty fee when it is revealed. So please don’t give the private lesson for the money.

If you want to do the part time job, you should get the permission for the part-time job (S-3) from the Immigration Office and it will be possible after one semester of your study in Korea. 5. Check the notice board on the webpage

Recently, Ajou University’s official English website has been overall renewaled and we will notice the important information in the “Notice Board” such as the job opening, notice and event etc.

Please visit the website and check the notice board on a regular basis.
