On February 22nd, Ajou University signed an MOU with KNX Association and KNX Korea to standardize both smart infrastructure control technology and related R&D and foster talents in the field.

KNX, which is the only international standard and open protocol for smart building control, enables building control solutions to interact with one another regardless of their manufacturer and nationality. KNX Association provides support for KNX and is carrying out technical cooperation with about 40,000 companies in 128 countries, National Groups in 110 member countries, and about 100 technical colleges around the world.

The MOU signing ceremony was attended by Vice President for Industry-Academia Cooperation Seong Keun Oh from Ajou University, President Yoon Hee Lee from KNX Korea, and Christophe Parthoens from KNX Association. The three parties agreed to seek technical exchanges and joint projects, develop applied technologies and further international cooperation relating to KNX by joining Scientific Partner, and foster talents with global competitiveness by establishing the KNX Training Center in Korea with experts certified by KNX Association.

The three institutions are planning to begin their partnership with a project that utilizes technical collaboration results for KNX-based smart lighting. Then, they will develop necessary control solutions for modern buildings for commercial and residential uses, including smart home, smart building, and smart city.

Vice President Oh said, "This MOU will help us foster qualified talents," adding, "We will try not only to create jobs in Korea, but pursue technical exchanges and networking with foreign companies."

Earlier, the University produced eight graduates of the KNX Tutor Course. KNX tutors, who will be in charge of education at the KNX Training Center, are experts who have obtained international accreditation after completing KNX Association's relevant courses and assessment.
