Ajou University's Paran Ladder Program received the Award of Excellence from the Ministry of Education. The Award is in recognition of the University's outstanding operation of the 2018 Paran Ladder Program, which is based on Ajou’s "After You Program" that began in the summer of 2015 to provide self-development and overseas training opportunities to students from financially difficult backgrounds.

The Ministry of Education and the Korea Student Aid Foundation chose relevant officials from two of the ten universities that operated the Paran Ladder Program as the award winners.

The selection criteria included the quality of the program plan, the appropriateness of student selection and the efforts to encourage their participation, the orientation on the program, the excellence of overseas training programs, and student satisfaction.

The Korea Student Aid Foundation also presented awards to ten students who participated in the Program. Among Ajou University students, Ha Nah Na, who was dispatched to Shanghai Jiaotong University, and Chung Yeol Oh, who was sent to the University of Washington, received the Grand Award and the Participation Award, respectively. Eun Joo Yoo from Kyungmin University also received the Participation Award.

Award winners were chosen based on their motivation and efforts during the Program, their proactive participation, and their level of improvement in global abilities.

The Ministry of Education and the Korea Student Aid Foundation covered the related expenses for the 800 selected students, who participated in language classes and cultural programs at overseas universities for four weeks last summer.

A total of 100 students from Ajou University, including those from neighboring universities, were sent to the University of Michigan and the University of Washington in the U.S. and Shanghai Jiaotong University and the Beijing Institute of Technology in China. The students’ training expenses were covered by the Korea Student Aid Foundation (70%) and the University's Game-changing Revolution Campaign (30%). The Campaign is funded by donations from those inside and outside the University who acknowledge and support its missions.
