Selection as a Participant in the “Admissions Officer Support Project”

Admissions Dean’s Office to open within the Admissions Office

 

Ajou University has been selected to participate in the “Admissions Officer Support Project 2008” to receive support from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology for 3 years.
 

The total subsidy of KRW15.8 billion will be provided to the selected participants based on evaluation outcome.  The support is provided for three years given the fulfillment of the basic promotion requirements, and the participants with superior performance will receive further support until 2012.  Universities will be able to use the government subsidy to the employment of in-house admissions dean and specialized staffs, establishment of the admissions system, and management and operation of the admissions dean system.


The school plans to open the Admissions Dean’s Office within the Admissions Office and hire the Admissions Dean, specialized staffs, and interviewers.
 Director Seok-cheol Yim of the Admissions Office stated, “The Admissions Dean’s Office will be placed within the Admissions Office, but the autonomy of the Dean and specialized staffs will be guaranteed.”  The task proposal for the Admissions Officer System will be prepared by the October and put to practice starting for the 2010 admission.


The Admissions Officer System is designed to select creative talents with superb problem-solving ability based on the comprehensive assessment of academic performance, personal background and character, and potential.
  It aims to normalize the public education system and reduce dependence on out-of-school academic education.
