March 20th, 2020

Dear all Ajou international students,

I hope this message finds you and your families well.

Given the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation across the globe, the Korean government has decided to apply Special Entry Procedure to all travelers arriving at the port as of March 19th.  As you may hear from News recently, most Korean universities have postponed the opening of semester about 2 weeks, and started the semester with online lectures on March 16th.  Ajou University has been monitoring the current situation very carefully and has decided to extend online lectures two more weeks until April 10th.  Our decision was a carefully considered one, bearing in mind the uncertainties ahead as well as the well-being and academic progress of our students.

As of March 20th, Ajou has had no confirmed cases of students, faculty or staff infected with COVID-19.  On behalf of the University, I would like to assure you that we are paying close attention to the health, safety, and well-being of all international students on our campus.  Ajou’s Office of International Affairs has been making every effort to ensure that all International students are fully aware of and comply with the Ajou’s responses and measures, in order to protect their personal health and the health of others, as part of our social responsibility, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. I believe that all students are well aware that they can reach out to their respective program coordinators, should they need any assistance.

Amidst the uncertainty and challenges faced in the current COVID-19 situation, Ajou University will continue to stay in touch during this time of online instruction and hope to meet each of you in person when everything is settled.  I encourage you to keep in touch with your faculty, classmates, your family, and most importantly your program coordinators.   I am hopeful we'll see you back on campus soon when the cherry blossoms beautifully on our campus.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Please feel free to contact the Office of International Affairs if you have any questions.

Yours Sincerely,
Ho Han, Ph.D.

Vice President for International Affairs
Ajou University
