Project ObjectivesDevelop 100,000 advanced talents through the establishment of the Convergence and Open Sharing System (COSS)Establish a national-level core talent development system by mutually sharing human and material resources to bridge the gap in educational capacity between regions and universitiesDevelop standardized curricula for each level so that resources of consortium universities can be jointly utilized and operatedSignificantly expand student choice to allow any interested student, regardless of major, to complete curricula in new technology fieldsAjou University’s Safe Data Utilization Convergence Project is an educational initiative aimed at developing experts in the field of Safe Data Utilization Convergence through the sharing of courses, facilities, and educational content across universities, as part of the Ministry of Education’s “Convergence and Open Sharing System (COSS)” . First, COSS is an educational project implemented by the Ministry of Education for the following purposes: establish a national-level core talent development system by mutually sharing human and material resources to bridge the gap in educational capacity between regions and universities, develop standardized curricula for each level so that resources of consortium universities can be jointly utilized and operated, and significantly expand student choice to allow any interested student, regardless of major, to complete curricula in new technology fields. The COSS budget amounts to 10.2 billion KRW annually, and the project will be carried out for a total of 4 years from 2024 to 2028, covering 10 fields (Safe Data Utilization Convergence, aviation and drones, semiconductor materials/components/equipment, secondary batteries, next-generation communications, eco-industry, green bio, advanced materials and nano convergence, next-generation displays, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Each consortium consists of universities from the metropolitan area, regional universities, and junior colleges. In the Safe Data Utilization Convergence sector of COSS, in which Ajou University participates, the consortium includes Kangwon National University (lead), Ajou University, Hanyang University (ERICA), Chungnam National University, and Yeungnam University College. Moreover, the Department of Cyber Space and the Department of Software and Computer Engineering are currently participating within Ajou University, and there are plans to expand the participating departments in the future. The Safe Data Utilization Convergence Project is open to anyone, regardless of their department. To systematically implement COSS, Ajou University has established and is operating the COSS Center. The Safe Data Utilization Convergence sector of COSS aims to cultivate highly skilled professionals in Safe Data Utilization Convergence particularly in light of the rapid growth expected in global markets in this field, such as data analysis, cloud security, and information protection. Accordingly, the Safe Data Utilization Convergence Project offers curricula in the fields of cybersecurity, cloud computing, and blockchain with the goal of cultivating innovative talent in data security and application convergence. In addition, these curricula are operated as collaborative courses with other universities. This website has been set up to provide more information about the Safe Data Utilization Convergence, where you can explore relevant details and the programs of other universities. Furthermore, this website will evolve into a learning management system (LMS) capable of supporting various aspects of COSS in Safe Data Utilization Convergence, such as course registration, class participation, and grade processing.
