NEW [16.10.11] Ajou participates in the World-OKTA Convention

Ajou University participated in the 21st World-OKTA Convention held from October 4th to the 7th in Jeongseon, Gangwon-do, and achieved fruitful results in expanding opportunities for global exchanges.


On the afternoon of October 4th at the World-OKTA CEO Meeting, the University LINC Project Team presented on its business support programs to the World-OKTA leadership and branch heads from around the world. Team Leader Goon Jin Lim introduced the University and its partner companies and explained the corporate assistance program in connection with internships, the global internship program, and the commercialization of on-campus assets, etc. Lim said, "I expect that the presentation will be an opportunity for Ajou's partner companies to go global and for the University to expand its support for overseas companies."


Ajou's eight partner companies participated in the Export Products Exhibition held for three days from October 4th. The participants include those from the University Incubation Center and those started by students. They met with a total of 260 potential customers and discussed or signed export deals, which is expected to help them further penetrate overseas markets.


On October 5th, Jeong Hun Cho (senior, Department of Chemical Engineering) participated in the '2016 Investment Fair for Rising Stars' with his sound speaker 'Happy New Ear' and attracted 40,000 dollars of investment. Cho is a successful case of Ajou's business incubation and global internship program. As a member of the on-campus business start-up club, he worked as an intern at KOTRA and joined the Next Generation Global Start-up & Trade School in August.


In addition, Ajou's representatives conducted activities for the World-OKTA Global Internship and industry-academia cooperation. On October 6th, President Dong Yeon Kim met with CEO Sae Bong Myoung from Terranova based in Paraguay and CEO Gwi Sun Choi from Samma International based in Hungary and expressed his appreciation for the company joining the global internship and discussed expanding the program. President Kim also hosted the 'Ajou Seminar for Global Industry-Academia Cooperation' by inviting about 180 businesspeople from the World-OKTA hubs, including China, Japan, ASEAN, and North America. He gave a lecture at the Seminar and discussed expanding global industry-academia cooperation with participants. In his lecture, President Kim introduced various challenges and efforts for global education and exchanges carried out by the University, which was well received by the participants. After the event, participants asked the University officials about the global internship and the corporate support program and applied for the Ajou Mentoring Program.
